Rivet nuts are the fasteners that have been widely used in recent years. They are developed to solve the problems of easy to melt of the welding nuts for thin metal sheet and thin pipe and internal threads that are easy to slip. They don’t need to tap internal threads, neither weld nuts. They have high riveting efficiency and convenient use. They are used in the fastening field of various metal plates, pipes and other manufacturing industries and widely applied in the assembly of electromechanical and light industrial products such as automobiles, aviation, railways, refrigeration, elevators, switches, instruments, etc.
Types Of Rivet Nuts
Rivet nuts are generally classified by material, head type, column and hole type.
Rivet nut materials: 316 stainless steel, 316L stainless steel, 304 stainless steel, carbon steel (08A), aluminum, copper.
Rivet nut head types: flat head, countersunk head, small countersunk head, flat head hexagon, countersunk hexagon.
Rivet nut column types: common round type, knurled round type, full hexagon type and semi hexagon type.
Rivet nut hole types:open type and closed type.
Advantages Of Using Rivet Nuts
Rivet nuts are mainly used in the connection of non structural load-bearing bolts, such as the connection of interior trim parts in railway passenger cars, highway passenger cars, ship berths, etc.
Even if the component surface has been coated or painted, the rivet nut and stud can still be installed at any stage in any production process and no surface treatment is required after installation, which is different from the welding nut. Rivet nuts and studs will not cause damage to components due to high temperature. At the same time, because there is no harmful gas and no fire hazard, the safety of manufacturers is guaranteed. Compared with other types of fasteners, rivet nuts have the advantages of less time consuming for production, low cost, and obvious economic advantages.
Precautions For Rivet Nuts
Rivet nuts, as a solution to connect some equipment that is difficult to weld with other parts, has replaced some traditional welding processing methods. However, manual rivet nut equipment is required for the use of rivet nuts, and the following issues should be paid attention to.
1. Check whether the mouth screw of the equipment is correctly assembled. Select the corresponding equipment head and rivet bolt according to the dimension of rivet nut and check whether the connecting parts are firmly connected.
2. Pay attention to the deformation length or displacement of the riveted nut, and then correctly adjust the angle of the operating lever.
3. The scale ring of the rivet nut equipment is used to adjust the rivet stroke, which can be adjusted as required during operation. It needs to attention that when adjusting the length of the rivet bolt, it is necessary to open two handles and adjust the equipment head sleeve so that the exposed length of the rivet bolt is slightly greater than the length of the blind rivet nut. Finally, adjust the nut and the equipment body tightly.
4. Finally, open the two handles and pull out all the bakelite. Put the corresponding blind rivet nut on the end of the rivet bolt and squeeze it firmly. Push the bakelite to screw the equipment head bolt. Then insert the rivet nut into the pre drilled hole of the rivet piece and press the two handles together with force. At this moment, the rivet nut expands to rivet the workpiece tightly, and then pull out the bakelite ball. The rivet nut will exit from the threaded hole.
During the operation of manual rivet nut equipment. If the cap is found to be loose, it shall be tightened in time. After using, the equipment head bolts shall be protected from damage.
Rivet nut is a kind of nut with professional internal thread, which is usually used for important connections. It provides great convenience for the assembly of sheet parts without heavy installation tools. More importantly, the connection of rivet nut and rivet stud can be repeated without affecting the performance.
