Structure and Material of Wing Nuts
- Structure: It is generally composed of parts, such as a wing and a locking block. The wing are sleeved on the nut; the locking block is used to match with bolt to achieve fastening.
- Material: It is commonly made of nylon 66, also known as nylon nut. According to the processing materials, it can also be divided into PC, PVDF, PP, etc. There are also wing-nuts made of metal materials, such as carbon steel plated, 304 stainless steel and so on.
Classification of Wing Nuts
- By Shape: It can be divided into wing nuts with washers, wing nuts with external hexagons, plastic self-locking nuts, cap-shaped wing-nuts, etc.
- By Thread Specification: It can be divided into metric thread wing nuts, unified thread wing nuts, and imperial thread wing nuts.
Characteristics of Wing Nuts
Advantages
It has good insulation performance and will not cause signal interference under the influence of current or other signals, making it suitable for the communication industry and other outdoor environmental applications. Some materials, such as PVDF and polypropylene, have good acid and alkali resistance and are popular in industries with acidic and alkaline environments.
Disadvantages
Its torque and strength are not as good as ordinary metal nuts. Easy to break under excessive torque; Meanwhile, due to the plastic material, it is easily affected by temperature and humidity, resulting in dimensional deviations.
Applications of Wing Nuts
It is often used in photovoltaic support systems, cooperating with aluminum alloy pressing blocks to connect photovoltaic modules and supports. It is also suitable for the fixed cooperation of channel steel of various specifications and connecting parts. It is applied in high-rise steel-structure buildings, steel-structure factories, expressways, power plant construction, telecommunications networks, and other fields. During installation, its gear structure is often utilized. It is embedded and then rotated for installation, and its position can be adjusted. Moreover, it closely meshes with the teeth of the channel steel and has excellent anti-slip performance.
