Small Volute Springs
A volute spring (often called a clock spring or power spring) is a flat strip of material wound into a compact spiral form around an arbor or within a housing. It stores and releases energy through rotational deflection, generating torque.
- Material: Stainless steel
- Dimensions: Custom-manufactured to specific requirements
Superior Characteristics of Small Volute Springs
- Provides extremely stable and constant torque: This is its most core advantage. Throughout the release process, it can provide nearly constant torque, which is ideal for precision scenarios that require constant force control.
- High spatial efficiency (very small axial size): The small thickness of the material means that it is very sensitive and can be used in situations where small, precise moments are required without overloading the precision mechanism.
- Suitable for low torque and high precision scenarios: They compress to a very low solid height, making them space-efficient. Furthermore, as they compress, the number of active coils changes, giving them a progressive or variable spring rate (the force required to compress them increases progressively).

Applications of Small Volute Springs
1. Automotive electronics
- Microactuator: used to control the air outlet door of the air conditioner and the opening and closing of small valves, providing smooth driving force and reset force.
- Sensor reset mechanism: Provides a constant return force to the moving parts of certain sensors (e.g., throttle position sensor).
2. Consumer electronics (core application areas)
- Smartphone lift camera/earpiece: Provides a smooth, quiet and reliable drive for its pop out and retract.
- Automatic retraction mechanism of portable devices: such as a miniature charging cable storage box, an earphone cable automatic retraction device, intelligent cable roll.
3. Precision instruments and equipment
- Instrument pointer drive and reset: used for the pointer of multimeters, pressure gauges, gas meters and other instruments to provide smooth drive and zero return torque.
- Optical focusing mechanism: used for macro adjustment and position holding of lenses in small camera modules and endoscopes.
